Presentation will be on "How to Build a Radio Operated
underwater Vehicle (ROV)". Your presenter, Events and Volunteer Coordinator Jody Patterson,
along with SSS Board Members and program facilitators Gerry Heebner and Jim Goodlett will be at the host site, Oatland
Island Wildlife Center,
in the Conference Room.
note that the gate will be open at 5:30pm so if
you arrive late (session starts promptly at 6pm) you will
not have access
Among a vast array of information you will be getting,
the following is a brief outline to the presentation:

Jody Patterson is the Events and Volunteer Coordinator for Gray's Reef National Marine Sanctuary and has supported the site since 2009 through administrative, operations, public outreach, volunteer engagement and education initiatives. She pursues an interest in wilderness conservation and habitat protection through science interpretation, promoting sustainable practices, encouraging enviornmental stewardship and exploration of our ocean planet. She is a certified PADI Rescue Diver, NAI Interpretive Guide and a marine technology instructor. Her prior professional experiences include almost two decades of accounting and fund administration for private industry resulting in a strong business background and work ethic. A native of Greenville, South Carolina, she enjoys living in the lowcountry these days on a salt marsh barrier island in Georgia where she practices permaculture gardening with her husband, two children, dogs, cats, chickens and honeybees.
The following are directions for getting to the Seminar:
From the Downtown.
Address: 711 Sandtown Road, Savannah, GA 31410
Take Presidents Street heading east towards Tybee Island.
2. About a quarter of a mile before you get to the Island's
Expressway flyover (where Saffold Drive and the Islands
Expressway merge), you should see a sign for Oatland Island
on the right. Take a right on Barley Road off of Islands
Expressway (which is just before the small bridge that
passes over Richardson Creek).
3. Take Barley Road past the bend to the right, which
will then turn into Sandtown Road. Almost immediately
after the bend you will see signs again for Oatland Island
on your left...take your first left and go down the long
road till you come the main building and go to the Conference
