Savannah Science Seminar
PRESENTER's FORMAT

In order for the Savannah Science Seminar Board to successfully organize these seminar Lectures and HOWsessions, we are in need of the following information which needs to be eMailed no later than four weeks prior to your presentation to the Board Member who will be at your seminar assisting with organizing the students:

1. Your full name.
2. The company or organization you work for, including past jobs that are applicable
    to your current job.
3. Your job title, including what your responsibilities are.
4. A short paragraph about your educational background (please list all the collegiate
level degrees you have attainted, as well as any certifications you have received).
5. The location of the seminar/HOWsession (please include the physical address).
6. An outline of three to five bulleted points of what is to be presented in the Lecture, and what
will be done in the HOWsession.

The following is a suggested outline of the Seminar formats:
1. The first Seminar consists of a Lecture on the science/technology subject matter presented. Good starting points for the lecture can include a general outline as follows:
       a. an overview on the profession
       b. discussion on educational backgrounds of people in the profession
       c. information on what your particular office or organization does
       d. specific information on tools or technologies utilized, as well as examples of work performed.
NOTE: when illustrating particular associated information, seminar presentations can include
the use of media such as slides, videos, powerpoint presentations, as well as objects
specific to the lecture topic...please also work with your Board of Director host in
accounting for the students that were in attendance, including associated teachers and
parents (the host Board member will have a sign up sheet for the students printed from
                 the roster page).

2. The second Seminar consists of a HOWsession (Hands on Workshop) on the science/technology subject matter presented. Good starting points for this part of your seminar can include the following:
       a. a short recap on information discussed last Seminar
       b. a short outline of what the students will learn AND do this Seminar.
       c. breaking the students into teams that have 6-8 persons per team for an exercise that will have
competing against each other to come up with a solution or an answer.
       d. Exercises that the students will do in teams should be relational to the profession's main focus
(i.e.: building WEBpages for the WEBcentrification HOWsession, using a testing instrument
to test a material and the students have to make educated assessments on the material, etc.)
NOTE: consider doing exercises that have the teams competing to come up with a particular
solution and award the teams with 1st thru 4th places based off of their answer or                  solution provided...consider explaining to them what each team did well, and what
each team could improve upon...please also work with your Board of Director host in
accounting for the students that were in attendance, including associated teachers and
parents (the host Board member will have a sign up sheet for the students printed from
the roster page)...please also work with your Board of Director host in accounting for
students' team members and team placing on the aforementioned roster page.
